"Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie" is an anime that showcases the life of high school boyfriend-girlfriend pair Yuuki Izumi and Miyako Shikimori on a day-to-day basis. Izumi, an unlucky student by nature, notices that his life becomes much better when he is around his girlfriend Shikimori. Shikimori is a seemingly perfect girlfriend who easily transitions between cute and cool. As the story unfolds, the two become closer as they try to solve Izumi's strange issue, which entails being uncommonly accident-prone when not in the presence of Shikimori.

The first English volume was published on October 27, 2020.[13] Anime edit In March 2021, the official Twitter handle of the Magazine Pocket service posted a statement confirming that the series will be adapted into a television series anime by Doga Kobo.[1][53] The series was directed by Ryota Itoh, with Shōhei Yamanaka as assistant director, and series scripter Yoshimi Narita, character designer Ai Kikuchi, and composer Hiroaki Tsutsumi.[54] It reportedly aired between April 10 to July 10, 2022, on ABC and TV Asahi's Animazing!!!! programming block.[2][55][e] The theme song for the opening is "Honey Jet Coaster" (ハニージェットコースター) by Nasuo☆, and the ending theme song is "Route BLUE" by Yuki Nakashima.[4][56] Crunchyroll streamed the series internationally outside Asia.[57] Muse Communication acquired the series in South and Southeast Asia.[58] On April 11, 2022, Crunchyroll announced that the series would get an English dub, which premiered on April 23.[59][3].
