Five years since the Principality of Zeon had triumphed in the One Year War, Amate Yuzuriha, a schoolgirl resident of the space colony "Side 6", meets Nyaan, a war refugee. Her meeting with Nyaan draws her into a situation when both the Principality of Zeon and the Space Police are in hot pursuit of the disappeared Red Gundam upon its reappearance 5-years since it had vanished. In an attempt to capture the Red Gundam, Zeon dispatches Xavier Olivette in the gMS-Ω GQuuuuuuX, a Newtype pilot prototype Gundam. In the process of attempting to capture the Red Gundam, Xavier crashes into the space colony and gets ejected from the GQuuuuuuX. Amate commandeers the cockpit of the GQuuuuuuX, steals it, and later defeats the Police Force, enabling the Red Gundam to make its escape. The GQuuuuuuX is piloted by the Pomeranians, an illicit group of mechanics competing in Clan Battles, a series of mobile and outlawed Mobile Suit dueling contests. Upon encountering the Red Gundam pilot, Shuji, Amate decides to join Shuji in Clan Battles alongside the Pomeranians and battle together in the GQuuuuuuX.
