Once Upon a Witch's Death is a Japanese light novel series author by Saka and illustrated by Chorefuji. It was serialized as a web novel posted on Kakuyomu between October 2019 and August 2022. It was acquired by ASCII Media Works who started releasing it in their Dengeki no Shin Bungei light novel line in December 2021. A manga illustrated by Kenu Amearare started serialization on ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Comic Regulus manga platform in March 2023. An anime television series adaptation from EMT Squared aired in April 2025.

Light novel edit Translated by Saka, Once Upon a Witch's Death was released as a serialized web novel published on the Kakuyomu website from October 3, 2019, until August 26, 2022. It was subsequently picked up by ASCII Media Works who started to publish it as a light novel with artwork by Chorefuji under their Dengeki no Shin Bungei light novel label on December 17, 2021. Three volumes have been published as of March 2025.[10] The light novel is published in English by Yen Press.[11]. Anime edit An anime television series adaptation was announced on June 28, 2024. It is developed by EMT Squared and directed by Atsushi Nigorikawa, with series scripts supervised by Keiichirō Ōchi, Yuki Shizuku responsible for character designs, and Akiyuki Tateyama and music composition.[2] The series debuted on April 1, 2025, on AT-X and other channels. The opening theme is "Drops" by Maaya Sakamoto,[8] while the ending theme is "Hana-saku Michi de" (花咲く道で, On the Road Where the Flowers Bloom) by Aoi Teshima and Yuki Kajiura.[20] Crunchyroll streams the series.[21]
